Serrano chiles are about twice as hot as Jalapeños, but unlike many other chiles, the flavor is best when they are still green. For a lighter flavor, remove the seeds and pith from the inside. This will decrease the heat by amount half.
- Germination can be long with these peppers, so be sure to be patient and attentive.
- Start indoors 8 weeks before last frost.
- Keep soil as warm as possible. Seedling heating mats speed germination.
- Gradually move outside so prevent shock.
- Day to maturity: 70-80
